WHAT? Don't argue on the internet? I thought you were a serious writer. No, you are just another goofy doofus who wants civility and antiquated manners in a calm and thoughtful exchange of reasoned positions.

Yep, I guess I'm a goofy doofus too. I expected to be challenged when I wrote an article about reading the Bible, but the negativity and hostility in some of the comments surprised me.

I took your path Matthew and refused to argue. I tried to be civil and respectable in my responses and recognized that it was ok to agree to disagree.

I think in the world of internet discourse there is a real lack of that concept of agreeing to disagree. Some of that may come from the security of knowing that you can say anything as hateful as you want and not have to worry about an immediate physical response from an offended person.

Like you, I won't argue on the internet either. I would much prefer to sit down and discuss things over a good beer. Or in your case a cold glass of homemade lemonade.
