Thank you Joel for reading and for the response. Some Christians believe that when Jesus referred to the treatment of his brothers he was referring only to believers. In other words, how a person treated fellow Christians.
I don’t agree. I think Jesus was referring to everyone. It would go against the core of Jesus’ teachings if mercy was withheld from anyone.
As for those good people who don’t believe in the divinity of Jesus. I simply don’t know. A former colleague of mine has spent his retirement years in charitable work benefiting children. I’m fairly sure, from past conversations, that he is not a Christian. But there is no doubt that he is a good man who helps plenty of people less fortunate than himself.
He had a disagreement with a supervisor long ago. The supervisor said that my colleague didn’t do a particular task the way the supervisor would have done it. But he didn’t necessarily do it wrong either.
Maybe God would look at people like him and say that they didn’t necessarily do things the strict Christian way, but they didn’t do them wrong either.
