Should We Bathe Every Day?
Is it healthy? Is it not?
The lovely and talented Mrs. Ward told me that an apparent controversy exists among celebrities over daily bathing. It seems that certain actors revealed that they don’t bathe their children every day. Predictably, some people were outraged, and others were supportive.
In keeping with my new year’s resolution, I will decline to have an opinion and/or comment on those celebrities and their hygiene practices. But it does make me wonder. Do we really need to bathe every single day?
To answer that question, I did extensive research (half an hour using Google) and discovered several articles that caught my attention.
One article from Harvard Health News indicates that while daily bathing could be desirable for social reasons, it’s not completely necessary for health reasons. In other words, if I can smell myself then you probably can too, so the polite thing for me to do is hop in the shower.
But the article also points out that daily baths or showers can dry out skin by removing some of the natural oils that help to keep skin healthy. On the other hand, this article from Healthline says that the concern of drying out skin could be overblown.
My goodness. What are we to do?
