Mark, thank you for reading and commenting. I was worried that I would come across as arrogant with my emphasis on confidence. But I think the confidence comes from my belief that running is really a very simple activity. Even me, who went to college as an engineering major before trigonometry and tequila turned me into a PE major, can understand running. Run fast to get faster, run longer to build endurance. Learn how much of each your body can stand and don’t deviate.

In the beginning we can all benefit from other’s knowledge but the longer we stay at it the more I find that the information repeats itself and old ideas are simply reworded as new ideas. So, we learn what works for our individual bodies and that knowledge gives us confidence. I would never tell you not to acquire more knowledge but learn what applies to you and what doesn’t.

I wrote a tongue-in-cheek article on running advice. One editor thought it might be too offensive, but you can make your own judgement if you would like to read it.

And as for a picture, here I am training for the Senior Olympics.
