Is the “first created spirit’s desire to gain dominion over God” a reference to Satan? If evil comes from the first created spirit then it infers that God created that spirit, thus God created evil as well as good. Then he gives us the free will to chose between the two. I realize this may be a very simple way of looking at it but, I am a very simple person.

Refer back to the Gospel of John where it says that nothing exists that was not created by God. We may be that we agree on this but from different directions.
