I think most people would be willing to listen to other points of view if the person expressing those views did so in a manner that wasn't geared toward changing the listeners opinion. We don't like changing our strongly held positions because to do that we have to admit we were wrong in holding that position. Most people don't like admitting that they were wrong. Strong positions won't be changed in one heated conversation. They can only be changed after numerous civil conversations. At least that's Ward's Worthless Opinion.
