I suppose I will be the naysayer here. I have run for over 40 years and run thousands of miles and hundreds of races. I can not remember a single run where I felt bored. Maybe it's because I don't think of running as exercise or something I have to do in order to be healthy.
Running is something I GET to do. I run in nature (never on a treadmill) in all types of terrain and weather. I don't run with music or anything other than the sounds around me.
Maybe I'm just weird. I realize a lot of people struggle with running but some of us just take to it naturally I guess.
The bottom line though is this. Whatever it takes to help you get your miles in, do it. Run safe and run happy.
