I like this David and I’ll have to read it again to get more understanding. An example of truth versus relativism, in my simple way of putting things, is that when I sit with Ed at Ed’s Tiki Bar it is the truth that the Tiki Bar exists and we are there. But when we argue/debate politics from our differing views then the vast majority of what we say is relativism. And those things may or may not have anything to do with the truth.
But the good part pertains to your second paragraph and your hope that disagreements can be done without hatred. Ed and I can have sharp differences of opinion in what we believe to be the relative truth. But it never affects our friendship.
Why can’t others do that?
