Conor, thank you for reading and commenting. Yes, I am a true believer. I believe God exists and God loves me. Are there things in the Old Testament that give me pause? Of course. As a retired law enforcement officer I read the story of Samson and see a mass murderer. That was certainly not taught in any Sunday school I attended. It also gives me pause to think that some of my friends through the years would be condemned just because of who they are sexually attracted to. There are things in the Bible that I don’t understand and probably never will. But there is still a message in the books of the prophets that is one of love and forgiveness.

I have no problem accepting the teachings of Jesus. Love others. Forgive others. Be slow to judge others. And as a Christian, I believe that what Jesus taught has to be given the most weight.
