An Elevator Speech for Christianity

It was just over a year ago that I first heard the terms “elevator speech” and “elevator pitch”. By either name, it is a term to describe a 30–60 second message that intends to get an important point across to another person. In other words, something you can do while riding an elevator.

The elevator speech is designed to introduce an idea or pitch a proposal quickly, succinctly and with enough clarity that the person to whom you are speaking will understand.

Can such a thing be done with the idea of Christianity?

When you consider the Bible, and all the books that are available about Christianity, it is not an exaggeration to say that millions of words have been written to explain the Christian faith. So how could anyone distill it down to an elevator speech?

Obviously, it would have to be simplified to a great degree. And since I am, to a great degree, a simple person let me give it a go.

God exists. We are created in His image, and He loves us enough to give us the gift of free will. Jesus is either the Son of God, God in the flesh or a combination of both. Jesus teaches that we should love others as ourselves. Forgive others as much as is necessary. Judge others only with love and mercy and never with hypocrisy
